Uncalendered Aramid Paper YT 511 belongs to the family of meta-aramid electrical insulation papers made from non-calendered aromatic polyamide flock. This paper was created to retain dielectric and mechanical properties within very wide operating range – according to Harnawa, working temperature range starts from -190°C and ends with 200°C. This type of material is UL listed with an RTI of 210°C (UL file E358562). It comes in 5 standard thicknesses – 130, 180, 250, 380 and 580 micron – on 1030 mm roll width. At these gauges, dielectric field intensity goes from 9 kV/mm at 130 and 180 micron grades up to 7 kV/mm at 580 micron grade. Dielectric constant remains in range from 1.3 to 1.4 at 60 Hz. Tensile strength varies from 25 N/cm (longitudinal) at 130 micron grade to 62 N/cm at 380 micron grade. In addition, shrinkage at 240°C doesn’t exceed 0.4% in any direction – very useful figure for users who pay attention to dimensional stability in process of resin curing or at high temperature.
