Electrical insulation materials are classified according to their characteristics, in thermal classes to which corresponding maximum operating temperatures are assigned.

For electrical apparatus, the specified maximum operating temperatures are the temperatures reached in these apparatus at their hottest positions when loaded to the maximum level.
