PTFE Sheet

PTFE Sheets Manufacturer in India

PTFE Sheets (Polytetrafluoroethylene) embody the pinnacle of chemical and electrical insulation materials; a fluoropolymer which is specially designed for unmatched excellence in all fields including chemical resistance, thermal stability and electrical insulation compared to any other plastic. Also known as Teflon sheet in the trade, the PTFE has unique characteristics that make it stand out among plastics due to its ability to have almost universal chemical inertness, lowest coefficient of friction of any solid and excellent thermal stability in a wide range of temperatures.

We at Harnawa Inc. are renowned suppliers of PTFE sheets, films and tapes certified for their quality to electrical and chemical processing industries in India.

What is PTFE Sheet?

PTFE sheet is made by using the suspension polymerization of PTFE resin and can be made by compression molding or precision skiving processes for making a sheet of desired thickness. The process gives a non-porous, dense fluoropolymer with a unique combination of characteristics, which include chemical inertness against nearly all kinds of industrial chemicals, non-sticky nature, non-absorbent nature, and good insulating capacity electrically.

White Teflon Sheet — Purity & Consistency

Recognized by its distinctive white Teflon sheet appearance, the whiteness of PTFE is an aesthetic feature that indicates its purity and inertness. Additionally, the constant whiteness of PTFE is one of the features that make it easily recognizable in manufacturing plants, which is especially significant for high-purity environments or those close to the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Virgin PTFE Sheet — Why Purity Grade Matters

In regard to ordering virgin PTFE sheets, customers are requiring the material to be produced using 100 percent pure, non-filled PTFE resin without reprocessing any regrind, filler, and additives. The virgin PTFE ensures that all the benefits of the material in terms of chemical resistance, dielectric behavior, and high purity are utilized. Harnawa Inc. offers virgin PTFE sheets when the application demands high performance and non-filled material rather than filled PTFE sheets which have certain improved mechanical characteristics.

Class O Insulation Rating

PTFE belongs to Class O of temperature classifications for electrical insulating purposes — the highest category which does not have standardized continuous temperature ratings as per the conventional NEMA / IEC Thermal Class system because of the extremely large and non-standardized temperature range of PTFE. This clearly demonstrates how much more beyond the limits of Classes A to H the properties of PTFE actually lie.

High Temperature Plastic Sheet — Operating Range

PTFE sheet material is a plastic material suitable for high temperatures that can work consistently throughout a very wide range, ranging from –180°C to +260°C (no load). It is hard to find other plastics that would behave the same way as PTFE does in extreme cryogenic temperatures as well as extremely hot conditions.

Key Physical & Electrical Properties

Harnawa Inc.’s PTFE sheets are manufactured and tested to the following general performance benchmarks:

Apparent Density: 2.10 – 2.30 g/cm³

Tensile Strength (min.): 15.0 MPa (upto ≥30 MPa depending on density grade)

Elongation at Break (min.): 150% (upto ≥100% depending on density grade)

Dielectric Strength (min.): 10 kV/mm

Dielectric Loss Tangent (1 MHz): 2.5 x 10⁻⁴ — shows minimal loss of signals

Dielectric Constant (1 MHz): 1.8 – 2.2; constant with respect to frequency

DC Breakdown Voltage: 200 kV/m depending on density grade

It is because of these properties of PTFE sheet, especially the high value of dielectric strength and low dielectric loss, that it becomes an ideal insulator for electronic applications as well.

Available Formats

PTFE sheets from Harnawa Inc. are supplied across multiple product formats to match application requirements:

  • PTFE Molded Sheet – Thickness: 4-600mm, Compression molded, Ideal for structural and gasket applications
  • PTFE Skived Sheet – Thickness: 0.3-6.5mm, Skived for uniformity in thin gauge sheet
  • PTFE Molded Tape – Thickness: 0.5-4.0mm, Tolerant in thickness for sealing and wrapping applications
  • PTFE Skived Film – High Density & Semi Density in thickness range of 0.015-0.30mm, Ideal for thin film and high frequency electrical applications

Frequently Asked Questions

1.What is the difference between PTFE sheet and Teflon sheet?

“Teflon” is a commonly used brand name that is registered with PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene). “Teflon sheet” and “PTFE sheet” indicate the same fluoropolymer in regular industrial use.

2.What is virgin PTFE sheet?

Virgin PTFE sheets are produced using 100% pure, unfilled PTFE resin and offer maximum chemical resistance and dielectric properties of the material.

3.In what temperature range do PTFE sheets work?

PTFE sheets have continuous operation range of -180°C to +260°C (no load).

4.Why is PTFE insulation called Class O?

The operational range of PTFE is far beyond NEMA/IEC classification from Class A up to Class H, thus it is Class O insulation material.

5.In what forms is PTFE sheet available?

At Harnawa Inc. you may find PTFE in the form of molded sheet, skived sheet, molded tape, skived film (High Density, Semi Density and Common).
