AHA Insulation Paper (Type 6650) – Manufacturer in India
180°C Insulation Paper Manufacturer in India
AHA Insulation Paper, which can alternatively be referred to as AHA Laminated Paper or 6650 AHA Insulation Paper, is a top-grade three-ply laminate material used in applications where the equipment requires withstanding harsh conditions in terms of heat resistance and mechanical strength.
The Harnawa Insulations company manufactures this Aramid + Polyimide + Aramid laminate in India, thus providing the local manufacturers of motors, transformers, and EVs with a quality alternative material.
What is AHA / 6650 Insulation Paper?
The AHA insulation paper uses the same concept in construction as the extensively referred to Type 6650 aramid-polyimide-aramid laminate that is widely used in electrical insulation industry, comprising of a polyimide film core coated on both sides by aramid paper using high temperature adhesives.
This is how the different names for the product arise:
- AHA Insulation Paper – abbreviated form of Aramid + H (polyimide /Kapton-type film) + Aramid
- AHA Laminated Paper – same product named due to the laminate construction
- 6650 AHA Insulation Paper – name derived from the layer arrangement concept in Type 6650
- 180°C Insulation Paper – name derived from the thermal class of H
Polyimide Film Aramid Paper / Aramid Polyimide Aramid – descriptive names of the three layered product
Whatever name you may choose to search or order the product, Harnawa provides the exact same quality product.
Why This Construction Matters
Each layer in the Aramid-Polyimide-Aramid structure plays a distinct role:
- Core of polyimide film insulation — delivers excellent properties of heat-resistance, dimensional stability and electrical insulation, even under constant high temperatures
- Outer layers of aramid paper — deliver mechanical strength, tear-resistance and aging stability to the core, thereby shielding it from physical strain when being wound and used.
The outcome is a mechanically durable flexible insulation material with the continuous operating temperature of 180°C (Class H), which significantly exceeds the range of operating temperatures of conventional Class B/F insulation papers of 130–155°C.
Why Choose Harnawa as Your 180°C Insulation Paper Manufacturer in India
- Class H / 180°C Rating – Thermal performance certified for the most rigorous electrical applications
- Six Thicknesses – Available in 0.14mm up to 0.32mm to cater to your specific slot, wedge, or barrier insulation needs
- High Dielectric Withstand Voltage – Withstand voltage in the range of ≥7kV up to ≥9kV based on the thickness of material used
- Consistent Mechanical Performance – Consistent tensile strength and elongation in MD & CD directions
- Local Manufacturing Benefit – As an Indian manufacturer, our lead time advantage and reduced MOQ is better compared to importing 6650-type materials
AHA Composite Polyimide Insulation Paper:
Insulation Paper for AHA Composite Polyimide Insulation Paper comprises a three-layer composite that utilizes a polyimide film that is sandwiched in between two layers of aramid paper through an adhesive system.
The combination of the excellent heat resistance and dimensional stability provided by the polyimide film and the mechanical strength and tearing resistance properties provided by the aramid paper creates the composite material that is capable of performing well at high temperatures (180°C) suitable for use in high temperature motors, generators, transformers, EV traction and aircraft electrical systems.

AHA F Class Insulation Paper
As AHA is rated as a Class H (180°C) compound and not a Class F (155°C), I would discourage the use of a paragraph that describes the product as “F Class” despite there being some searches with “F-Class.” In my opinion, the best way to tackle this problem is to note that AHA is better than F-Class, enabling one to capture at least part of the search intent. For instance:
“AHA Composite Polyimide Insulation Paper surpasses F-Class (155°C) insulation material requirements and provides a superior Class H (180°C) thermal class for use in cases where F-Class insulation falls short.”
Applications
- Slot Insulation — In high-temperature motors and generators
- Inter-Turn Insulation — Between winding turns at high thermal stresses
- Liner Insulation — Overall liner for highly stressed electrical apparatus
- Insulation Barriers — To isolate high-voltage parts in transformers and windings

Frequently Asked Questions
1.Is the AHA insulation paper equivalent to 6650 insulation paper?
The AHA insulation paper has the same layered structure of aramid – polyimide – aramid, which is also known as 6650.
2.What does “180°C insulation paper” mean?
This class denotes the thermal classification of AHA insulation paper which can work continuously at the temperature up to 180°C. It is higher than the usual classes B and F with their temperatures of 130°C and 155°C respectively.
3.What is the difference between “polyimide film aramid paper” and “aramid polyimide aramid”?
There is no difference as the terms denote the same three layers laminate which consists of aramid paper on both sides of polyimide film.
4.What thicknesses do you offer?
Six different grades of 0.14 mm to 0.32 mm are offered with the breakdown voltage varying from ≥7kV to ≥9kV.
5.Why should I consider buying Indian-made laminates instead of importing 6650-type laminates?
Purchasing 6650-type laminates made by Harnawa in India will reduce your lead times and eliminate customs and delivery delays.
